Notes

Edited by Paul Herman. All the stories have been edited back to match the original pulp publications.

The Cosmos Books series is based off the Wildside Press series book Hours of the Dragon.

Introduction to “The Hyborian Age” is a letter to Donald A. Wolheim from H. P. Lovecraft that accompanyed the manuscript of “The Hyborian Age”.

“The Hyborian Age” is cited as being reprinted from its original appearance in THE PHANTAGRAPH, as a three-part serial, February 1936, August 1936, and October-November 1936. However, this statement is in error. THE PHANTAGRAPH appearance is incomplete and only goes up to the time of Conan. This appearance of “The Hyborian Age” in this volume is complete.

Published by Dorchester Publishing Co. in collaboration with Wildside Press. “Cosmos Books” is the property of Wildside Press.

Several of the works are listed in the TOC as UNTITLED followed by a parenthetical title or caption). Each work’s title page includes a subtitle identifying the date and location of first publication.
