As night approaches in the jungle, Frank Gordon and Steve Allison look for shelter and spot what appears to be a castle or temple through the trees. A terrified woodcutter warns them away, speaking of djinns, devils and men associated with Janir Khan, but Gordon decides to continue.

Near the ruins they meet an elderly Indian man who recognizes Gordon as El Borak. The man reluctantly agrees to take their horses to his village for safekeeping and also warns them against entering the castle.

Gordon and Allison nevertheless investigate. The drawbridge proves unsafe, so they cross the moat another way and enter the ruined stronghold. Gordon’s caution is justified when the massive gate collapses after he tests it. The surviving fragment leaves the two men exploring the castle while alert for whatever danger may lie within.
