The countdown has begun
Texas and Howard Days 2022
Finally!
A longtime dream is getting realized. Me, my wife and my daughter (12) and son (18) will be visiting Texas this summer.
We’ll be visiting a lot of different places in Texas, but my main focus is the Howard Days and places REH visited or wrote about. I’ll bring along my camera and get lots of pictures.
Many thanks to Ed Chaczyk, Paul Herman, Dennis McHaney, Rob Roehm, Terry Allen and John Bullard for traveling tips and other useful information.

One day to go. Mandatory Covid-19 tests negative. Will do the online check in later today. Now we just need to start packing.

The trip is paid in full. Now all we have to do is save some money to spend on the trip. Trying to sell books, comics, anything that can generate some extra cash.
Made map yesterday showing where we will visit. It seems a bit strange going back and forth like this. Was so happy when I got someone to arrange the trip that I didn’t really noticed until it was too late. But then again, we’ll just see more of Texas 🙂

I’m a bit more relaxed. Now we can really start planning what to see or do in Texas. I’ve started expanding these pages with a little bit of information about the places we are going to stay during our visit. Places will pop up above as I add more information.

After several weeks of frustration, stomach ache and no living sign from our travel agency I finally got all confirmed yesterday. All seats are booked. We have the final price. The agency has yet again changed their name and the contact person who originally helped me order this trip is now employed in this company. Never seen such mess, but I think I can sleep well again now, knowing our trip is all set.

Then it is decided that we will be 4 travelling to USA. My son was allowed by his school. We have sent the Esta application and got a price from the travelling agency. It is the most expensive trip I will ever buy or have ever bought!
Hope I will be able to enjoy it regardless of all the expenses. Waiting for a confirmation from the travel agency for changing the tickets.

Confirmed the trip with the travel agency. We might be one more person (my 18 year old son). Hope that turns out. I have checked that the flights are still valid and started the ESTA applications.
Got a bit panicky today since I could not find our flights through Vision Travel. Found them through Delta Airlines so phew…
The price is still not corrected, but Alexander (our agent) promised he would fix it. Websites are still as they were when Vision Travel took over. Thankfully I have printed most of the information I got from USA Tours.

Thanks to John Bullard for sending me a reminder regarding the banquet at Howard Days. Sent money to Arlene for 3 seats.

Asked for and got at better explanation about what happened with the travel agency I orinally booked our trip with.
USA Tours was bought by Vision Travel in October, they then sold it again to Primo Tours but kept the bookings USA Tours had made.
My trip is still confirmed. No change in website language, content and the price is not yet corrected.

Noticed that the price had not been corrected and was promised that Vision Travels are working on websites in Norwegian.
November 18, 2021
Changes! Our Travel Agency is no longer USA Tours. Got an email from Alexander in Vision Travels in Denmark telling me that our trip is secure. Vision Travels now owns our booking.
Car, living accomodations and flights seem to be fine. The information on the Vision Travel agency’s website is like a bleak copy of what we had on USA Tours. Seems almost like this is a one-person company. They don’t book any new trips according to their website.

We had to get new passports since both my own and my wife’s expired. Thankfully it is not long to wait and it doesn’t take long to do.
October 1, 2021
The trip is booked with USA Tours. We will travel from Norway to Amsterdam, then to Detroit and finally to Dallas where we will spend the first night before moving on to our first destination.
The main goal is visiting Howard Days in Cross Plains.
