Introduction

Swords of the Hills is Howard’s original title for the El Borak story later better known as The Lost Valley of Iskander. Kline received the story on November 11, 1933. It was not published during Howard’s lifetime; its first publication was in the FAX Collector’s Editions volume The Lost Valley of Iskander in 1974.

In the story, El Borak discovers an isolated valley inhabited by descendants of Alexander the Great’s Greeks while trying to carry a vital package to British India ahead of Hunyadi.
