Notes of a Football Game Between Characters from the Various Boxing Stories is a surviving one-page Robert E. Howard typescript, TSS 15331, in which Howard arranges characters from several of his boxing stories into an American football lineup. He first lists a starting team, followed by a series of substitutions, and then gives a revised lineup reflecting those changes.

The document brings together characters who normally belong to different stories and even different branches of Howard’s boxing fiction, including Steve Costigan, Mike Dorgan, Bill McGlory, Bill O’Brien, Big John Clancy and others. It appears to represent planning or experimentation for a possible football story involving his boxing characters, although no completed story corresponding to these notes is known.
