The story

Steve Costigan finds himself low on funds and luck in the Hong Kong waterfront. When his beloved bulldog, Mike, is kidnapped, Costigan is blackmailed into raising a ransom he does not have. In his desperation, Costigan decides to participate in an underground fight club managed by dubious promoters who have declined him before. After a chaotic encounter with a British fighter in the bar, Costigan accidentally takes the place of the fighter in a scheduled match, not realizing the opponent is the formidable Torpedo Willoughby, known as the Cardiff Murderer. Despite the overwhelming odds and brutal fight that ensues, Costigan’s focus remains split between winning the prize money and rescuing Mike. Costigan’s relentless spirit prevails in the ring, but the true victory comes in the chaotic aftermath when he discovers that Mike has heroically defended himself and is safe. The story closes on a lighter note with Costigan jubilantly reunited with Mike, ready to retrieve what’s theirs.
