Letter to Donald M. Grant

Extract

For example, the first Cross Plains faculty meeting is described in some detail, not because it tells anything about Bob’s and my relationship, but I thought it painted a picture of the town in which we lived and dated—the town in which Bob wrote those exciting stories—yarns, as he called them. But isn’t there a possibility that ONE WHO WALKED ALONE has enough in it to interest more people than just Bob’s cortege?
