Sprague sent me a book which Arkham House had published. In it was a biography of Bob that seemed to me to be filled with inaccuracies. It seemed to me that I should think once again of 1936 and my resolve to write about Bob so that people who didn’t know him would know the “real” Bob Howard . . . at least as a young, romantic woman who was trying to learn to be a writer knew him.
