Excerpts

Upon its release The Cimmerian quickly grew into a living thing greater than the sum of its parts, a collective of fans and scholars who together made Howard studies much more accessible. I can scarcely count the number of readers who have expressed profound joy at suddenly finding themselves within the beating heart of the field to a degree they never imagined possible. And REHupans and other “lifers” discovered that there were many dedicated, knowledgeable fans outside of their social network capable of teaching them a thing or two about a subject they thought was their sole purview.

— from “Envoi — 2008”

Just as sure as a Muslim is required to set out on the Hajj once in his life, everyone reading this owes Rob at least one drink before they die, in gratitude for his editing The Collected Letters of Robert E. Howard. It’s your solemn duty as a Howardist.
