Upon its release The Cimmerian quickly grew into a living thing greater than the sum of its parts, a collective of fans and scholars who together made Howard studies much more accessible. I can scarcely count the number of readers who have expressed profound joy at suddenly finding themselves within the beating heart of the field to a degree they never imagined possible. And REHupans and other “lifers” discovered that there were many dedicated, knowledgeable fans outside of their social network capable of teaching them a thing or two about a subject they thought was their sole purview.
