UNTITLED SYNOPSIS (The Vultures of Wahpeton). Howard did quite an extensive synopsis of the story. Overall, while the synopsis provides a clear framework of the story, the full version of “The Vultures of Wahpeton” expands significantly on this foundation, offering richer character development, more intricate plot details, and a fuller narrative experience.

Characters

  • John Middleton: The sheriff of the mining town, secretly the head of a gang of robbers and murderers.
  • Steve Corcoran: A gunfighter from Texas, hired by Middleton as a deputy to combat the criminal gang, unaware of Middleton’s true role.
  • Billy Glanton: A gunman, initially intended to be the deputy, killed by Corcoran.
  • McNab, Richardson, and Stark: Middleton’s deputies, brave but ineffective against the criminals, later revealed as gang members.
